The Annual Pine Island 4th of July, 2021, Parade and events, (actually held on July 3rd) --- began as in previous years at 10 AM, at Winn Dixie shopping plaza and traveled north on Stringfellow Road to the 4-way intersection, and then left on Pine Island Road to the Elks Lodge at Pine Island Center. There were comments about the parade being held on Saturday, the 3rd as it was, instead of Sunday, the 4th of July. Since the 4th landed on a Sunday this year, it would have interfered with churches and church-goers on Stringfellow road going and coming from St. James City, especially during that 10am time frame.

The annual parade was canceled for 2020 due to the covid flu scare. Area governments wouldn't issue permits and often didn't tell, until days before the event, that such permits wouldn't be issued. This uncertainty has hung over all outdoor events and was evident by the slightly smaller than usual participation.

The Parade was, as is usual, lead by Pine Island's Rescue and Fire Department, followed but the Lee County Sheriff's Department and Pine Island Businesses and organizations, all in total the parade including cars, VFW Honor Guard, floats and business and individual entries.

The American Legion on Stringfellow Road opened to the public at noon, with a typical Independence Day Barbecue. Watermelon eating contest, followed by music from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. Fireworks began at dusk.
