Storm Band Takes Down Power, Internet in Bokeelia

A fast moving storm band moving through Bokeelia, Monday, Aug., 24th at about 1:45pm blew down Australian Pine trees at the intersection of Bokeelis Rd. and Stringfellow Rd. The storm only lasted about 40 minutes, however, the winds were about 65mph gusts and the rain was seen blowing horizontally. The trees fell down across the road and took with them the power lines and the internet cable.

The Sheriff's Dept routed traffic around the intersection until the trees were removed and the power lines were out of the roadway. The affected areas were south of the Bokeelia intersection to almost the center. The power was restored in about 90 minutes but the internet cable wasn't restored until after midnight.
