7-31-24 - Around 3:00 pm afternoon an incident occurred in Bokeelia FL leaving one dead.

It was reported that a dark Toyota Tundra truck started driving on the Bokeelia pier. It rammed through the metal gates and hit a golf cart and shed. It was starting to inch forward, the sound and smoke of burning tires could be seen and smelled by the people at the end of the pier . They where all yelling to get out of the way. The pier was busy that day with children and families fishing. Shortly after the truck rammed through the metal gate several gun shots rang out. It was reported that a bystander shot and killed the driver of the truck. The incident is still under investigation.
