The American Legion Auxiliary needs Toys for Tots to be dropped off at the Post unwrapped. We would need these toys by December 4th. It would be most appreciated.

Suntrust Bank on Pine Island, 10202 Stringfellow Road, St. James City, Florida is raffling off a gorgeous Christmas Tree complete with all the decorations.

The issue of opening the Matlacha Bridge during construction for boat traffic between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. appears to be resolved.

Around 2:00 AM on October 14, Four Matlacha-Pine Island Fire units responded to an early morning fire at a St. James City restaurant.

The crew said they could see the glow for miles away. The fire broke out at the Low Key Tiki restaurant on the back deck and destroyed the deck and back tiki bar, said Rich Crotty with the fire district. It took about 20 minutes to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Crotty said it does appear to be suspicious.

Pine Island American Legion will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary on Friday evening, October 22nd.

Entertainment will be provided by the Burnt Out Band from 6:30-9:30pm.
