Residents lost the battle to prevent Matlacha from being divided between House Districts 76 and 77. The final legislative debate is today and no amendments are being allowed.

Injured Eagle Released Near Eagle Preserve
The female eagle injured in Matlacha in late December has completed her rehabilitation at CROW and returned to her nest in St James City.
Arson Destroys Pine Island Chamber Building
Pine Island Chamber office building was destroyed by what investigators suspect is arson. The building went up in flames early Friday, January 13th around 3:15 AM and is now deemed a total loss.
Good Day For Pine Island
First, the Commissioners accepted a NOAA grant of $63,000 to remove exotics and plant native vegetation in the Galt Preserve in St James City.
